Entry #47 

I went out on guard duty today to patrol the perimeter of the base.  Should have been routine business, nothing special. 

Unfortunately I saw the most horrifying thing in my entire life.  A black buck hobbling towards me.  At first I thought he was just black-coated, then he got closer. 

His entire body was burned. 

I don’t know how he was still alive, but there he was, walking towards me. 

Every soldier is equipped with a couple healing potions and an assortment of combat drugs.  I used up my entire ration of Buck, Hydra, and healing potions on him, as well as a few Med-X needles. 

His skin was burnt to a crisp.  Any time I brushed against him too hard, his skin would fall off to reveal bloody flesh underneath.  I had to be EXTREMELY careful. 

Even with the Hydra regenerating his flesh I wasn’t sure he was going to make it.  I ended up levitating him back to the base and sounding a medical alert.  He kept switching between begging me to kill him and begging me not to let him die.  He said he had a wife and children. 

I have a hard time with mercy killings.  Even when Peach Melody was burning up from the inside I wasn’t sure I could put a bullet through her head, but she died before I could do anything. 

Anyways, the buck is now in intensive care, so there’s nothing else I can do now.  Hopefully he’ll eventually recover.  Slow death by a flamer is a terrible way to die.
